Tackling Electrons in Two-Dimensional Materials for Electronics and Energy Applications

主讲人:Yuanyue Liu (Assistant Professor at University of Texas at Austin, USA)

  时 间:2018年5月30日(周三)10:00-11:30

  地 点:沙河校区电子楼(原微固楼)137

  内容简介:

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted great interest for electronics and energy applications, while they still face significant challenges to realize the potential. Here I will discuss our recent progress in (1) understanding the electron transport in 2D materials, and how the transport is affected by atom vibrations (phonons), interface between materials, and defects; (2) understanding how the electrochemical reactions are correlated with the electronic structure, and using these insights to design materials for catalysis/batteries.

S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2008, and Ph.D. from Rice University in 2014, both in materials science and engineering. He worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) as a summer student in 2013. He began the postdoc training at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and then joined Caltech as a Resnick Postdoc Fellow. He has received a number of awards, including Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad (2012), Best Achievement Award for Summer Student at LLNL (2013), Franz and Frances Brotzen Award (Rice University, 2014), and Resnick Prize Postdoc Fellowship (Caltech, 2015).
