  人力资源部教师发展中心“名师讲堂”第80期活动安排如下,欢迎广大师生参加:

一、主 题:An Active 30 GHz Phased Array Antenna

High data rate links for continuous mobile services have become one of the main drivers for broadband mobile Satellite Communication (SatCom) links on platforms such as airplanes, trains or ships. This scenario demands for the lowest possible impact of the antenna system on the mechanical structure, drag and costs. To maintain communication links while moving and to avoid bulky configurations - for example mechanical scanned antennas - a system with an electronically steerable antenna array is of major importance.

This presentation reports on concept, design and practical results of a transmit/receive (T/R) array for the 29 – 30.8 GHz frequency range. On the one hand, this is a first study for 20/30 GHz SATCOM transceivers (with further effort necessary for the 20 GHz downlink). Alternative application in similar frequency bands such as terrestrial communications in the 28/29 GHz band or sensor applications may be also covered by this approach.

This work was a joint effort of researchers for system design, (SiGe) integrated circuit design, integrated circuit fabrication, antenna design, packaging and interconnects, thermal management, as well as measurements techniques. The talk will present the underlying concepts, practical realizations, and finally give results on two demonstrators with electronic scan capabilities up to 60° in all directions.

  七、主讲人简介:

Prof. Wolfgang Menzel received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Aachen, Aachen, Germany, in 1974, and the Dr.-Ing. degree from the University of Duisburg–Essen, Essen, Germany, in 1977. He was with the Millimeter-Wave Department, Airbus Defense and Space, Ulm, Germany, from 1979 to 1989, where he was the Head from 1985 to 1989. In 1989, he became a Full Professor with the Institute of Microwave Techniques, University of Ulm, Ulm. His current research interests include multi-layer planar circuits, antennas, millimeter-wave and microwave interconnects and packaging, and millimeter-wave systems. Dr. Menzel was a recipient of the 2002 European Microwave Prize and the 2013 IEEE Microwave Application Award. He was an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MICROWAVE THEORY AND TECHNIQUES from 2003 to 2005. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Distinguished Microwave Lecturer for Microwave/Millimeter Wave Packaging. From 1997 to 2001, he chaired the German IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques/Antennas and Propagation Chapter.
