　　为加强我校各学科之间的学术交流，搭建教师学术交流平台，促进教师学术水平提升和跨学科合作，教师发展中心开展跨学科学术沙龙活动。

　　本次活动教师发展中心特别邀请了美国国家公共行政学院Fellow、美国纽约城市大学公共事务学院院长David S. Birdsell教授，与我校师生共同探讨2016年美国总统竞选的两极分化现象及其影响。具体安排如下，欢迎感兴趣的教师和博士生参加。

　　On the cusp of the two major party nominating conventions, both Democrats and Republicans appear poised to elect candidates with the lowest levels of popularity ever measured among top-tier nominees for President of the United States. Is this year's electoral fracas a unique product of outsized personalities and unusual candidacies, or does it owe more to longer term demographic changes, partisan election redistricting, a changed and still rapidly changing media environment, as well as deliberate strategic choices on the part of candidates? This presentation will lay these reasons alongside one another and examine the reasons why some heretofore stable models of US presidential elections may not hold up in 2016 and explore some of the possible implications, especially in the wake of Brexit, for the Impact this election may have on US foreign policy.

　　David S. Birdsell 教授，美国国家公共行政学院Fellow，纽约城市大学公共事务学院院长。David教授的主要研究方向为将传媒、信息技术运用在政治、行政和非盈利组织等领域，担任纽约市宽带咨询委员会理事及美国公共事务与行政学院学会执行委员，并任政府治理志愿委员会、纽约人口普查数据研究中心委员会及人权委员会主席。
